Driftwood

Terms of Use

Effective 14 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Driftwood for using Driftwood's apps, Product Lab and the apps that grew out of it, and the driftwood.app pages their links open. By using them you agree to these terms. What we do with your data is explained separately in Driftwood's privacy policy.

What our apps are

Product Lab is a phone app from Driftwood, for iPhone and Android, where we try early prototypes with a small group of testers before they become products. Prototypes are unfinished: they change, break, lose features or go away, sometimes without notice, and we can't promise any of them will be available at any particular time. Product Lab is free for testers. It is provided as it is and as available, without promises about how well it works, to the extent the law allows.

The apps that grew out of it, Campfire, Breakwater, Almanac, Common Room, Viewfinder, Reverie and Metropolis, are early versions too: they can change, break or go away in the same way, and are provided as they are and as available, to the extent the law allows.

Your account

You can use Product Lab, and most of each app, as a guest, or sign in with Apple or Google. If you sign in, use your own Apple or Google account, keep it to yourself, and don't let anyone else use your Driftwood account. You're responsible for what's done with it. You can delete your account at any time: open Account settings and choose “Permanently erase”, as Driftwood's privacy policy describes.

What you post and share

What you create in our apps, such as rooms, posts, messages, notes, photos, videos and writing, stays yours. You give Driftwood permission to store it, show it and share it with the people you choose, only so that the apps can do what you ask of them. That permission ends when you delete the thing or your account, except where someone you shared it with already has a copy, such as a message that reached their phone. Only post what you have the right to share.

Using the apps fairly

Don't use Driftwood's apps to:

We may remove content, or suspend or close an account, that breaks these rules. If you see something that does, report it where the app lets you, or write to finn@driftwood.app.

Other companies' services

Reverie uses YouTube API Services. By using Reverie's YouTube features, you agree to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google's Privacy Policy applies to them. Driftwood's privacy policy explains what Reverie does with your YouTube data.

Some apps show content from other companies, such as Instagram's and YouTube's own websites in Breakwater, maps from Mapbox, transit routes from Transport for London, weather from Open-Meteo, podcasts from their publishers, and in Resonance, what you've published on GitHub, Bluesky, Medium or Threads. Their own terms apply to their content, and we aren't responsible for it.

Feedback

If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them to improve our apps, without owing you anything for them.

Stopping

You can stop using our apps at any time, and delete your account as described above. We may end a prototype, or end or suspend your access, at any time, for example if you break these terms.

Our liability

To the extent the law allows, Driftwood isn't liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of free prototypes. Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law doesn't allow to be limited, or takes away your rights as a consumer.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the apps change. When we do, we'll change the date at the top, and for a significant change we'll tell you in the app.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States. If you live somewhere else, you keep any protections your local law gives you.
